King James Holy Bible 1666 -1668 Printed by John Field Cambridge.
19th(?) century rebind with original boards and new and beautifully decorated gold gild spine. Replacement end papers and blanks, heraldic bookplate (John Eyre). With several sheets of hand-written notes and music. Also contains handwritten prayers, handwritten notes in margins, and inscription. Some staining and browning, text is clear and readable. Photos take with a high resolution camera under high lighting. Can provide additional photos upon request.
OT title dated 1668. NT title dated 1666. Book of Psalms dated 1666.
Size: approx. 7 inches wide, approx. 9 inches tall, and approx. 1 1/8 inches thick.
Known widely as the “Preaching Bible” due to its ease of use in the pulpit.
Due to the small type used, this Bible is much thinner than normal.
