Illuminated medieval bible leaf manuscript written on vellum, Italy, presumably Bologna, C1280.
Gothic pearl writing in brown ink, in Latin, Double columned, rubicated initials in red and blue and scrollwork marginalia.
Excellent example of medieval book painting, made some 200 years before the invention of book printing.
Page size: approx. 7 3/8 inches X approx. 10 inches
Floated within a 11 inch x 14 inch double mat with 6 inch x 9 inch opening.
Condition: – minor amounts of dust to plastic sleeves; warping in pages; discoloration around binding marks; holes and creases to the center of the pages from being previous binding; areas of foxing to the pages.
